American Idol

Have you noticed the weird “Beautiful Girl” lyric insert during David Archuleta’s rendition of “Stand By Me” this week? If you haven’t, watch the video below and wait for 1:14.

Apparently, it was his dad, Jeff Archuleta’s, idea to include that lyric from Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girls” song. The Archuleta’s were already warned about it but David still sang the verse during his performance. Thus the American Idols producers were fined for the alteration. This served as the straw that broke the camel’s back and prompted the Idol producers to finally act and strip Jeff Archuleta of his backstage pass. This is not the only time that news broke out of Jeff Archuleta’s stage-dad antics. There were previous reports of Jeff Archuleta screaming at David which supposedly caused David to be all nerves during his performance.

Just about time, I should say. Wish him best of luck for next week’s performance. I just hope David Archuleta will not be penalized for his father’s actions. Also I sincerely wish that he will still continue to bring forth an awesome performance that will solidify his chances for the Finals. I will stick to my David vs David Finals prediction despite Syesha’s strong vocals this past week.

David Archuleta, Jason Castro, David Cook and Syesha Mercado

Now we are down to the Top 3.

Now it doesn’t matter to me who will be sent home as long as it is NOT any of the 2 Davids. Just a few comments on the Final Four:

  • David Archuleta pulled a strong performance with his songs “Stand By Me” & “Love Me Tender”. He is the obvious Idol favorite so we shall see him through the finals. **crossing my fingers for the win**
  • David Cook was back to his rock vibe with his rendition of “Hungry Like the Wolf”. Then his softer “Baba O’Riley” (I remember this song as the CSI Theme). But his position for the win is a bit shaky.
  • Syesha Mercado sang the Tina Turner song “Proud Mary” then the song “A Change Is Gonna Come”. It will take a miracle to bring her to the Final Two.
  • Jason Castro sang “I Shot The Sheriff” and then it was his turn to forget his lyrics with the Bob Dylan song “Mr Tambourine Man”. Hmm..his mistake was very obviouse. Tsk tsk…

Who was voted off?!

Brooke White

Let’s pretend for a moment that Paula Abdul’s crazy antics didn’t happen so we can talk about something else. Now let’s pretend for a moment that it is interesting that Brooke White was sent home.

It’s fun pretending isn’t it?

I predicted that it’s Brooke’s turn to be sent home, on a previous post, and I’m right. It’s great to be on target for a change. ;)

Top 4 Idols

Now let’s focus the spotlight on the TOP FOUR!!!

My money is still on the Davids for the win. Unless by some major upset that one of them will be sent home prior to the finals, It’s a toss between Jason and Syesha on who will be sent home next. It will be great though if the final three will be my three favorite Idols — David A, David C and Jason. But it doesn’t matter much if Syesha snatched the 3rd place from Jason. I liked her when all this first started but the the Davids and Jason earned my undying affection.

Now, that’s a nice picture of the remaining 5 Idols, don’t you think?

Ok. So it’s Neil Diamond night this week. Not really familiar with his songs. But if you want to know more about him, you can read up in wikipedia or in his official site.

We are now down to five Idols: the two Davids - Archuleta and Cook, Jason, Syesha and Brooke.

Let me share to you what I think will happen. Now this is all just for fun so do not take me as an authority on this. Here goes:

  • The next  bottom three will not include either of the Davids.
  • If Syesha proves strong this week then it will be a toss between Jason and Brooke to be sent home.
  • But my money is on Brooke - as the one to be eliminated this week.
  • Jason and Syesha needs to pull off strong performances to be safe for another week.

There you go. :)

Let’s wait and see if I will get it right.

Just want to share a video of David Archuleta performing the song “Think of Me” during American Idol’s Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Song night. :)

Now who would have thought this will happen.

Out of this group of Idol wannabes…

Idol 6

They voted off one of the ladies. But it is NOT the one everyone (or atleast me  ;) ) thought it will be.

I was betting that it will be Brooke White who will get voted off. After all, she re-do her “You Must Love Me” performance. It is a first for American Idol to have one of the contestants start over their performance after a less than satisfactory start. But alas, I am mistaken.

It doesn’t look right at all. :(

Who was sent home?

Carly Smithson

The tattoed one ~ Carly Smithson. She was voted off this week as she didn’t get enough votes to keep her in the running for another week.

Goodbye Carly!

This is the day I have looong been waiting for!

Come on, I have been predicting that this will happen several weeks ago. It’s right about time too. I actually said something good about her on my last post. Temporary lapse of judgment. I know.

So obviously its just about time to kick her out before I falter on my dislike of her even further.

Anyway ~ let’s all celebrate the good news!

This one was kicked out of American Idol. Finally!

Kristy Lee Cook

I can be a bitch. I know. Let’s all celebrate nonetheless. Goodbye KLC!

Now we are left with six.

I really liked the guys’ version of Mariah Carey’s songs especially David Cook’s. Methinks that it will be one of the ladies that will be sent home this week. Let me share my thoughts:

  • Surprisingly, I actually liked KLC’s rendition of “Forever”. So I think she is safe for another week.
  • Meanwhile, Brooke White was a a bit off with her version of “Hero”.
  • I barely remember Syesha Mercado’s performance despite the strong vocals she put in at the latter part of the song. Vanishing. Come on…Why pick a song with that title?!
  • Carly Smithson’s “Without You” got a not-so-good comments from the judges especially from Simon. So the odds are against her. Personally, I think it was just an ok performance. She has big shoes to fill since Mariah got major vocals. (Also, I can’t seem to shake off Ken Lee whenever I hear this song. :) Go figure!)

For me ~ the bottom three might be dominantly occupied –if not all– by the ladies.

I leave you with Carly’s performance of the song “Without You”

Another of my favorite performance last week is that of Jason Castro’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. I really love the original Israel Kamakawiwo’ole version eversince i heard it in the movies “Meet Joe Black” and especially “50 First Dates”. I was even surprised when I discovered that I have the entire album in my iTunes several days ago. I almost forgot I even have it in my collection. Then I remembered that I copied my sister’s Israel Kamakawiwo’ole “Facing Future” CD last year to my iTunes. It was definitely a pleasant surprise and I can’t stop playing the song ever since.

Here’s Jason Castro’s performance last week:

Now who is missing you ask…it’s none other than the Aussie rocker Micheal Johns. He was sent home amidst everyone’s shock. He wasn’t in my radar for quite some time now but I didn’t think he will go home ahead of Kristy Lee Cook.

Micheal Johns

It was the first time that KLC was not part of the bottom three. The other two who joined Micheal Johns in the bottom three were Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado. I know that Carly and Syesha are better singers than KLC so I still wonder why they are in the bottom three instead of her.
