I introduce you to American Idol’s Top 7.

Now who is missing you ask…it’s none other than the Aussie rocker Micheal Johns. He was sent home amidst everyone’s shock. He wasn’t in my radar for quite some time now but I didn’t think he will go home ahead of Kristy Lee Cook.

Micheal Johns

It was the first time that KLC was not part of the bottom three. The other two who joined Micheal Johns in the bottom three were Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado. I know that Carly and Syesha are better singers than KLC so I still wonder why they are in the bottom three instead of her.

I was pleasantly surprised that David Archuleta sang Robbie Williams’Angels“.

Angels” is one of my favorite songs ever. I absolutely love it! :) The song has a really meaningful message.  I took notice of Robbie Williams just because of this song. I was actually surprised that Robbie Williams even have a song like this in his repertoire with his bad boy image and all.

As for David’s performance, I think it was alright. I love that he sang my favorite song but I prefer the original. Don’t get me wrong David Archuleta is adorable and a really good singer. But how well or how bad he did the song does little to the grand scheme of things. He would still be one of the two people whom I think will make it to the finals.

Here’s David rendition of the song “Angels” and I also posted Robbie Williams’ version below. Enjoy! :)

Kristy Lee Cook, Brooke White and Ramiele Malubay was at the bottom three. But it was little Ramiele that got booted out. I had an inkling that KLC will not leave yet since it is after all Dolly Parton night. It’s her genre for goodness sake. KLC will not be booted out after a country music performance. It’s unfortunate that Ramiele was sent home instead. We have to admit that Ramiele did falter in the middle of her song.

I will miss Ramiele.

Ramiele Malubay

Someone went home and its a guy…

This one…

Chikezie

Chikezie was sent home this week.

Come on…How long do I have to wait for Kristy Lee Cook to go home?! She has overstayed her welcome in my opinion.

These are the TOP 9 Finalists...

I really liked this song so wanted to post it today.

Here’s David Archuleta’s rendition of the song “The Long and Winding Road” during Beatles night.

I got 1 out of 3 wrong. Not a bad assessment if I do say so myself.

What irks me the most is that SHE is still there. AND i overestimated Carly’s performance. Darn. I don’t like her and I overestimated her performance. I should definitely work on this.

Ok ok…I digress… the bottom 3 were…

  • Carly Smithson (finally!)
  • Kristy Lee Cook (for the Nth time!)
  • Amanda Overmyer (tough luck)

Now…Who went HOME? >>

I watched this week’s American Idol performances and as always I have my favorites. But I want to share who I think will be the bottom three…

  1. Kristy Lee Cook’s “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away” - I had enough of her…so I say You’ve Got To Hide Away KLC like right NOW… very pitchy and down-right-fitting to be eliminated next…Goodbye! (Love your comments Simon. He actually went on and told her she was terrible last week. That guy doesn’t know how to mince words.)
  2. Amanda Overmyer’sBack in the USSR” - she lost her edge with that song, seems to me she was just mumbling along. Not the best song choice and obviously not her best performance at all!
  3. Brooke White’s “Here Come’s the Sun”- the sun wasn’t shining when she started singing this song. Her voice can’t carry the song through…ugh…hated it. But I still think KLC has the best chances of being booted out due the latter’s poor track record.

Unfortunately, my list is all-ladies which isn’t meant it to be that way. I think I got it right but I may be wrong. But most definitely, I am rooting for KLC to go home.

The bottom three was announced - Syesha Mercado, Kristy Lee Cook and David Hernandez. Out of the 3, Kristy Lee Cook was the worst but it was David Hernandez who was sent home.

Here’s his performance during elimination night. Farewell David!

He wasn’t particularly my favorite but I was rooting for someone else to be eliminated.  I have to wait another week before KLC or Carly gets voted off.

Now for my take on the Top 6 Guys last week:

Top 12 Red Carpet

  • David Archuleta’s “Another Day in Paradise” was great. I liked it but I loved his performance on John Lennon’s “Imagine” the other week better.
  • David Cook’s “Hello” version was definitely a different take on a classic Lionel Ritchie song. It was wonderful. I’m not yet sold on this guy’s chances.
  • Micheal John’s “Don’t You Forget About Me” was catchy and he sang it as it should. He was great and was having fun while performing. But It wasn’t his best performance.
  • David Hernandez’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me” was ok for me. I thought he was channeling Celine Dion instead of Meatloaf in his performance though.
  • Jason Castro’s “Hallelujah” was an ok performance for me, I thought the others did a whole lot better. The judges all loved it for some reason. Go figure.
  • Chikezie’s “All the Woman That I Need” had good vocals and was a good choice for him. It wasn’t memorable for me though.

Now we are done with last week performances. Let’s wait for this week’s round.

Now 80’s night is over and we now have the Top 12.

We lost a couple of good ones but sacrifices have to be made. Here’s my take on the Top 6 Girl’s performance last week:

  • Ramiele Malubay’s “Against All Odds” vocals were great and not too over the top. She played it safe this round. If she keeps their confidence up and avoid safe performances on the next rounds, she will shine and make it to the finals.
  • Syesha Mercado’s “Saving All My Love” had powerful vocals and was great overall. Keep it up!
  • I love Amanda Overmyer’s “Hate Myself for Loving You” rocker chick performance. It was different and surprisingly enjoyable compared to her past performances.
  • Brooke White’s “Love is a Battlefield” unplugged version worked for her. It was ok, in my opinion.
  • On Kristy Lee Cook’s “Faithfully”, she comes off as a Carrie Underwood wannabe and a second rate one at that. I’m afraid she will not make it far.
  • On Carly Smithson’s “I Drove All Night”, nothing was special with her performance. I don’t get the judges enthusiasm over her. Yes she is a great singer but the other contestants are also great singers. I’m with Simon on her.

Next post will be my take on Top 6 Guy’s performances.
