Wicked

Procrastination is such a troublemaker. I have 2 books that I have started reading and haven’t gotten around to finishing yet and a third book I borrowed and haven’t opened yet. These books are:

My books
  1. The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin S. Sharma. (I have to get past the first chapter.)
  2. Wicked by Gregory Maguire. (The last time I picked up this book was last October. The stewardess on the flight home even commented on it.)
  3. Like the Flowing River by Paulo Coelho. (I have all of Paulo Coelho’s books and I love every single one of them. )

Now I have gotten my hands on another book, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Our local bookstore has an on-going sale that I can’t pass up so now I got saddled with another book. But I’m happy since I got the book at 20% off.  I love it when my favorite stores have a good sale.  About the book, My friends are raving about The Secret and kept on bugging me to read it. I would’ve saved my money if one of them lent their copy to me.  But they are not yet done with it, so I don’t know how they could recommend a book that they haven’t finished yet. So now I ended up having to see it for myself with my own money. One of these days I’ll post my thoughts on the book once I get around to reading it.

Now, ADD that book to my list that I need to read AND finish eventually.  Something always comes up.  I have to get around finishing my book one on the list so that I can eventually scratch this entire list out.

P.S. The books are very interesting and have great reviews, dont get me wrong. Its just that I don’t get to find the time to just sit down and read it.

The Academy Awards was boring as usual. But there was 2 things that I did enjoy — one, I liked Jon Stewart as the host, and second, I enjoyed the performances for the Best Original Song Nominees. Too bad though that Alan Menken didn’t get an award since he had 3 chances of taking home the Oscar.

My reason for enjoying the Original Song performances is because I love Enchanted and the songs from that movie. So I was particularly thrilled seeing the performances of Amy Adams, Kristin Chenoweth and Jon McLaughlin.

But I also ended up loving the song that won, “Falling Slowly” by Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova from the movie Once. If you haven’t watched the Oscars, Click here to see the video of the performance I found in youtube and fall in love with the song too.

Wicked

Another soundtrack I learned to like is the Broadway Musical Wicked’s. Which has some connection to the movie Enchanted. Since the actresses who portrayed the original Elphaba, the Wicked Witch and Glinda, the Good Witch has contributed to Enchanted in one form or another. Idina Menzel who portrayed Elphaba in the broadway musical is part of the cast of Enchanted as Patrick Dempsey’s character’s girlfriend Nancy. While Kristin Chenoweth, the Good Witch Glinda, performed the song in this year’s Academy Awards.

Here’s a picture of the poster for Wicked taken at a mall in Los Angeles the last time I was visiting. Next time I visit, I will make it a point to watch the musical if its still showing. For the meantime, I’ll have to make do with listening to the soundtrack. But I also have the novel but I havent finished reading it yet. I will share my thoughts once I’m done.

One more thing, I’m happy that Diablo Cody won for the screenplay of Juno. The movie was very witty and endearing. For those that haven’t seen it yet, check it out.
